Virus Knocks Out Computers at Qatari Gas Firm RasGas

Cnet: On the heels of a successful cyberattack at Saudi Arabian oil production firm Aramco, a natural gas producer in neighboring Qatar has also fallen prey to malware. RasGas, the second largest producer of liquified natural gas in the world, has confirmed that its desktop computer systems have been down since Monday because of the attack, and the company’s website is offline as well. However, the company says that gas production and delivery have not been impacted.

The Wall Street Journal’s James Herron tweeted this morning, “Sources tell us the virus that shut down RasGas computers is also Shamoon, the virus widely-believed to have hit Aramco earlier this month.”
