Reuters: The University of California and Eolas Technologies, a company that helps the university commercialize its patents, have sued three of America’s largest companies–Facebook, Wal-mart and the Walt Disney Company. UC says Facebook and Wal-mart have violated four of its patents on interactive technology, including those covering hypermedia display and interaction. UC and Eolas also filed a separate lawsuit against Wal-mart and Disney for violating two other patents.

In an earlier court case UC and Eolas brought against Amazon, Google, Yahoo and others, a Texas court invalidated two of the patents that are also at issue in the current case.
