AUSTIN, Texas and PITTSBURGH — The University of Pittsburgh is working with Oracle to migrate its human resources processes to the cloud.

The University of Pittsburgh implemented Oracle Fusion Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM) to provide a better HR experience for its over 14,000 staff and faculty members, according to Oracle last month.

The university moved its paper-based processes online with Oracle Cloud HCM to improve access to HR information, strengthen employee connections across the university, and create a more sustainable workplace.

The university replaced its on-premises HR system with Oracle Cloud HCM to also improve the “ease, transparency, and speed of HR.”

University of Pittsburgh employees can complete HR tasks more efficiently and with greater accuracy and set up for improved employee visibility and enhanced workforce analytics.

For example, the university’s administrative users can log in to the online HR portal and see the status of a request and where it is in the approval cycle to identify delays and address issues.

The University of Pittsburgh includes more than 33,000 students on its five campuses.

“Our leadership sees HR as a strategic imperative and is always pushing us to improve,” said Michelle Fullem, acting assistant vice chancellor of HR operations, University of Pittsburgh.

“On-premises systems aren’t built to be updated at a pace that keeps up with innovation.”

Fullem added that the university can “stay ahead of the curve” with Oracle Cloud HCM, which offers immediate access to updates and an “intuitive user experience.”

Chris Leone, SVP of development for Oracle HCM, said the product helps higher education institutions “make more informed decisions and provide better experiences” for their staff and faculty, so they can “spend more time providing a great service to students, instead of getting bogged down in administrative tasks.”
