CFO World: Analysts had expected enterprise IT spending to fall 3 percent in the second quarter, but a new report from Maven Wave Partners says that it actually grew by 6 percent during the period. In addition, companies boosted their IT payrolls by 9.1 percent.
The firm said that the boost in IT spending was due to stronger-than-expected hardware sales, which offset the weaker-than-expected software sales. “Now that actual numbers for the 2Q 2011 are in,” the report said, “it’s clear that despite our conservative estimates, and despite a slight tap on the brakes in first quarter for software spending, IT spending growth overall continued at a blistering pace.”
