The Wall Street Journal: Oracle’s executive in charge of North American sales, Keith Block, has left the company. Recently, some embarrassing messages sent by Block became public as part of the HP lawsuit. Of Oracle’s acquisition of Sun Microsystems, Block said, “We bought a dog.” He also criticized Mark Hurd, the former HP CEO hired by Oracle, saying that Hurd generates “lot’s of noise, not much results.”

Block’s departure is believed to be the catalyst behind Oracle’s decision to release its quarterly earnings earlier than scheduled.
