Oracle Sues Patent Troll Lodsys

GigaOm: On the heels of its high-profile patent fight with Google, Oracle has launched another patent lawsuit, this one against Lodsys. Lodsys, a company that makes money solely from licensing fees, is often described as a “patent troll” and has a reputation for threatening to sue small companies. In the lawsuit, Oracle says Lodsys “has repeatedly threatened numerous Oracle customers” and asks the Wisconsin federal court to invalidate four Lodsys patents because they are not new inventions.

In a separate case, Apple is also facing off against Lodsys in court after Lodsys sent threatening letters to several iOS developers.
