Number of Wi-Fi Hotspots to Quadruple by 2015

Computerworld: A new report from Informa Telecoms and Media commissioned by the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) predicts that the number of public Wi-Fi hotspots in the world will increase by 350 percent over the next four years. That puts the total number of global hotspots at 5.8 million by 2015.

The report also says that smartphones will overtake laptops as the most popular tool for accessing hotspots. In fast, in the U.S. smartphones already access hotspots more frequently than laptops.
