Wall Street Journal: As part of a plan to attract more small business users, Facebook has announced that it will give away $10 million worth of advertising. The giveaway will form part of a project co-sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and National Federation of Independent Business that aims to teach small business owners how to market themselves on the social networking site. Beginning in January, the first 200,000 small businesses to sign up will receive $50 credits when they purchase advertising on Facebook.
Currently 9.2 million small businesses have Facebook pages. Analysts expect that Facebook will earn $2.01 billion this year from display advertising.
